In the documents I have already referred to, which are to be found in the War Office in Whitehall, London, it is revealed that the CFR wanted to do a deal to keep Lenin in power, in exchange for a sole concession for oil from the vast Russian fields. They thought Lenin was more likely to deliver a deal than the White Russian generals. This skullduggery, this betrayal, was what helped the Bolsheviks to come back from the very edge of defeat to become a powerful force able to subdue Russia at a cost of the lives of untold millions of its citizens. When Britain officially recognized the Bolshevik government in 1924, it was on condition that an official sign an agreement with British Petroleum (BP), securing huge tracts of oil lands for exploration by British interests. The groundwork for this had been laid by Sydney Reilly, British MI6 operative, during the Bolshevik Revolution. Reilly had seven passports with different official MI6 names and represented Lord Alfred Milner, who was largely responsible for financing the Bolshevik Revolution, more directly than he did the British Government. Likewise, Standard Oil for the United States signed similar agreements with imperialist Lenin.
