Mám na serveri 2x 3TB WD RED disky, jeden má asi 3 roky, druhý niečo cez rok, na serveri je FreeBSD zfs, disky sú samozrejme v mirror a všetko ide absolútne bez problémov.
Pred časom som reklamoval jeden WD GREEN 2TB, alza ma osrala, pretože mali bordel vo výrobných číslach, tak som disk poslal priamo do WD v Nemecku, do 2 týždňov mi poslali späť WD Black rovnakej kapacity, ktorý ide bez problémov doteraz v desktope.

The 1.5TB and 2.0TB drives we have in production are slowly being replaced with larger capacity drives. The average age of the Seagate 1.5TB drives is over 5 years, making these some of the oldest drives in our data center. Their current annual failure rate is over 10%, so these drives are being replaced first. The HGST 2TB drives we have running have been exceptional. After 4+ years of service their cumulative failure rate is just 1.9%. If you’re interested in a 2TB drive, the HGST drive, model HDS722020ALA330, has been an all-star performer for us and they are still available on Amazon for $56.43.
A zase HDD ktore je v prevadzke 5+ rokov co cakali??? Hlavne ze tam je za ak sa zaujimate o 2GB HGST je na amzone za $56.43.
Toto podla mna nie je ziadny report ale skor iba reklama na HGST...
No nevím, mám to na domácí použití naopak (o serverovou farmu se nějak nestarám).
WD je fajn, první dva roky. Pak jde hlučnost a teplota nahoru, po třech letech KO.
Seagate - doma v desktopu na OS 250GB Barracuda, cca 10 let stará, SMART OK, tři vadný sektory. Na data 500GB, osm let, perfektní kondice. V NASu 1TB 7200RPM, kupovaný cca před šesti lety, Denně tak 5-7h provozu. Šlape jak hodinky, SMART OK,... V noťasu mobilní Seagate, denně dá tak 4h (z toho 2h cestování autobusem po našich skvělých a kvalitních okreskách), bez problémů. A kupodivu ani jeden nevrčí jak středně vytočený čokl...
No podla toho co som cital tak nepouzivaju HW RAID ale nejaku ich aplikaciu. A podla popisu co ta app robi, tak mas pravdu taky dikovy provoz nevygenerujem a asi ho nevygeneruje ani FB....
To make Backblaze Vaults work, we needed an erasure coding library to compute “parity” and then use it to reconstruct files. When a file is stored in a Vault, it is broken into 17 pieces, all the same size. Then three additional pieces are created that hold parity, resulting in a total of 20 pieces. The original file can then be reconstructed from any 17 of the 20 pieces.
